WEDDINGS (sacred and secular)

Wedding ceremony music is traditionally divided into four parts: prelude, processional, mid-ceremony and recessional. Prelude is pre-ceremony music that lasts about 20 minutes (5-7 songs) and meant to set the joyful mood and entertain your guests as they gather for the ceremony. Following immediately after the prelude is processional music that accompanies you and your wedding party while walking down the aisle. It usually includes three songs: grandmothers and mothers, bridesmaids and children (flower girls, ring bearer), and the bridal entrance. For processionals with fewer attendants only two songs are recommended to preserve the flow of the ceremony. 

Interlude (mid-ceremony) rituals such as the lighting of the unity candle, presenting flowers to Mary and mothers, and signing of the marriage license are beautiful additions to any wedding. If you don’t have a song preference for this part of the ceremony, we can advise you on music selections that are appropriate. If you are choosing music for a wedding in a church, it is always a good idea to ask the liturgical staff about any specific rules or guidelines the church might have regarding music selections.

* For catholic weddings, all the music selections can be instrumental except responsorial, Gospel acclamation and the Mass parts. A professional vocalist can be added to the music ensemble if the priest in charge of the ceremony prefers a vocal congregation leader.
